10/02/08: 2008/09 Season Kickoff & VP Debate After Party

Don't miss one of the biggest events of our times, a pivotal occurrence that will leave you deep in thought and fired up - the Design Madison 2008/2009 kickoff party.

Forget about which side of the aisle you sit on (Pirates or ninjas? Sweet-and-sour chicken or General Tso's?). It's time to put aside your differences and come together in the pursuit of great design. Tomorrow night, get the lowdown on all the big issues facing Design Madison this year, including which badass designers you'll hear from all season.

Plus, grab a Design Madison exclusive giveaway - quantities will be limited, so be there early.

Oh, and there's a little thing called a vice-presidential debate going on. Join us for the VP Debate After Party immediately following our announcements. We'll convene to the lounge around 7:30PM to watch the debate which starts at 8PM.

This is your chance to reconnect with fellow group members and board members, share a few drinks, offer up your services (volunteering) and learn about what's happening in the organization this season. Not a member? That's okay, this party is open to everyone.

This event is FREE to attend by everyone - DM members and non-members alike. Cash bar.

11/06/08: Jason Noto & Doug Cunningham [Morning Breath]

Morning breath should at all costs be avoided... unless it's those fresh guys at Morning Breath, Inc. in Brooklyn, N.Y. Forget about the eye-opening punch of Colgate and Listerine - founders Jason Noto and Doug Cunningham's designs are so in-your-face that you can't help but sit up and notice.

They count TV on the Radio, Queens of the Stone Age and Kanye among their clients. On top of their work for Burton Snowboards, Vans Warped Tour and MTV, they count TV on the Radio, Queens of the Stone Age, Talib Kweli and Kanye among their clients. They were even nominated for a Grammy - not for their talent at soft rock, but for "best special music packaging" of 2004.

Be at the Brink to get the lowdown. And don't forget to brush. Just because they're called Morning Breath doesn't mean they want to smell yours.

12/11/08: The Naughty or Nice Holiday Party

Ah, the holiday party - that magical event that sets you up for so many disasters. Obscenely and unknowingly flirting with the boss' spouse, drunkenly tucking your skirt into your tights and not realizing until you get home, tossing your holiday cookies in front of your impressionable intern.

This year, get it all out at one party among friends. Mingle with the best and the brightest of Madison's creative, ad and PR world, from Ad 2 Madison, Design Madison, MAGNET and PRSA. Join us for the kind of party you've always wished your office would throw - good food, plentiful drink, loud music and fellow partiers who will forgive you for your impending inappropriate behavior.

Important: Please RSVP to register - otherwise we can't guarantee we'll have enough food to go around.

Free food and cash bar with drink specials until 8 p.m.:
- Half off all top-shelf Irish & Scotch whiskeys
- All wines $5 per glass
- 20 oz. pints of Guinness with a shot of Bushmill's Irish Whiskey for $6
- $5 Stoli Dolis (the signature Brocach cocktail)

This year we're giving you an opportunity to make up for all the naughty things you did. Second Harvest will be on hand to take your canned food donations and Preschool of the Arts will happily take your creative art supply donations. Come early and bring your donations for one or both of these worthwhile causes and receive a special treat! Not sure what to bring? Check this out.

01/08/09: Cycle [CYCLE Was Here]

Here's a possible recipe for Cycle: lock Salvador Dali and M.C. Escher in a room, hand them some spray paint and slip them some acid. Or maybe that's too limiting.

Cycle is the master of morphing from street graffiti to graphic design to fine art, while staying true to his individual style. He's got the Cycle Touch. Everything he comes into contact with—blank cement walls, plain cardboard boxes—turns to graffiti gold. Find out the method behind his madness.

02/19/09: Garrett Nantz [Luxurious Animals]

Garrett Nantz is a New York based Creative director of Interactive media. Nantz has a successful career as an Associate Creative Director for Big Spaceship (lasting over five years). We spotted him when he gave his presentation at a SXSW (South by Southwest) in 2007.

More recently he decided to leave the mother ship to hang out his shingle. His new company, Luxurious Animals, is located near the center of it all, Times Square, NYC. The company is made up of a team of designers, animators (even a stop-motion animator), and coders. Garrett confidently assures us that he has a couple projects that will definitely be show stoppers.

03/12/09: Eric Perez [BLITZ]

We're all guilty of spending a little time on the Internet at work. We know you just meant to check your G-mail—where did those five hours go? Blame it on Blitz.

The Los Angeles-based interactive geniuses are responsible for the Web sites that suck you in like a black hole. You might be a tobacco-chewing, hairy-chested hockey player, but even you can't resist saving doe-eyed animals on the Bratz Lil' Angels site.

Blitz is so good that they're working with Google on the much-awaited Google Lively. Once they pull that project off, you can say goodbye to your free time. But for now, make good use of that free time and come hear how Blitz pulls it all off.

About BLITZ
BLITZ is an independent digital agency that specializes in interactive branded experiences, rich internet applications and user interfaces. They help clients express and differentiate their brands' personality through engaging interactions, storytelling, motion and sound - that excite.

The Los Angeles based company has won an astounding 22 FWA awards which confidently puts them in the top ten most awarded companies in the United States.

04/09/09: Andres Conde [RED Interactive Agency]

RED Interactive Agency gets the word out for big-time movies like "Eagle Eye," "Spiderman 3" and "The Incredible Hulk." And by "get the word out," we mean building a kick-ass ad campaign, including interactive Web sites that are sometimes more entertaining than the actual movie.

Be at the Brink for an inside look at the talent behind these major projects.

05/07/09: DM Season Ending Party

Join us in celebrating the end of another great Design Madison Season. This year we're wrapping things up with a celebratory party at Cafe Montmartre, a favorite spot of ours in season's past.

We'll provide a wide selection of appetizers, enjoyable conversations with your fellow talented colleagues and a nice recap of our season. You just provide you (and maybe some drinking money 'cause it's a cash bar).

This event is not only freely attended by members and non-members alike, we encourage one and all to bring a friend. after all isn't about time you introduced that special someone to your warped designer friends? Let the worlds collide - it's bound to be entertaining.
