Join us at the Goodman Community Center for a Design Madison event with extra sauce - the night features one of our favorite artists, Frank Chimero, a special presentation by Madison's Mess Hall Press, and free beer.

Frank Chimero proves just what amazing work you can do as a solo designer and illustrator. He is a regular on Grain Edit, and a guy who can teach and write as well as he can design and illustrate. He has been featured in most of your favorite design magazines and several books, has published work for clients from The New York Times, Fast Company, Business Week, Money Magazine and Good Magazine, to Nike, Microsoft, Starbucks, and American Airlines, but he still can't seem to shake his Midwestern work ethic and cool.
His work often centers around a "visual wink," that playful twist that makes good work truly memorable. He is inspired as much by Alan Fletcher, Rand, and Bass as by his ceaseless curiosity and a constant search for happiness, wit, and innocence.
MESS HALL PRESS
Surely you've seen the work Dave Eggers at 826 Valencia, and maybe even offshoots like the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company, but did you know there's a group right here in your hometown who have been quietly doing the good work to bring design to kids since 2005?
Madison's all-volunteer Mess Hall Press kicks off the night off with a presentation about teaching Madison high school and middle school students the fundamentals of the design process through screen printing - and how by giving kids real world design studio experience, their own appreciation for the power of design has expanded and grown. That's right, ink and squeegees in action, don't miss it!
